Other Lip Questions Answered

  • I'm not sure what lip colour I want to go for

Rachael will ask you questions during your consultation to help you to decide which colour you'd like to go for. Most clients go for a pinkish colour to suit the day time, and others prefer a redder tone. You are able to wear lipstick over your permanent lip treatment and some clients opt to save the deeper/brighter colours such for occasions.

  • Why would I have a lipblush?

The wearing of face masks has given rise to the lipblush being a popular permanent makeup choice. But it is good for those who want a tint of colour that is smudgeproof - no need to constantly reapply your lipstick or lip balm. It is also a treatment of choice for those who lack defined borders of the lips and gives instant youth!

  • Who can have permanent makeup/semi permanent lipblush?

You must be 18 years old or more, not pregnant, and you must disclose any health issues, medications or known allergies to your artist. If you suffer with coldsores, please take antiviral medication prior to lipblush/permanent lip treatment

  • Can I book if I have had permanent makeup before, elsewhere?

Please send clear photos of your previous permanent lipblush prior to booking, so we can assess whether we are able to place more pigment. In some cases whereby you are unhappy with the previous shape (outside of your lip borders), it may be necessary to seek a removal service first.

  • Is it permanent makeup or semi permanent makeup?

The words are interchangeable around this topic and both terminology would be correct. As far as science is concerned, the pigment implanted into the skin is deemed as permanent, as the molecules of the pigment remain in the skin. However, the colour and definition of the pigment fades over time hence the word 'semi' permanent and to keep the colour fresh, a one-stage boost appointment is recommended after approximately 12-18 months depending on how quickly yours fades.
